Imagine walking through life with every mistake visibly drawn on your face, the regrets, the wrong decisions and the missteps. No matter how much time passes, the marks remain unforgivable, unforgettable and impossible to hide. This thought might feel heavy or even scary, but it's meant to lead us somewhere meaningful.
As a life coach, I often witness how people carry invisible marks such as guilt, shame or resentment. These emotional impact how they see themselves and others. Yet, not all mistakes are meant to be permanent. Some are meant to be remembered for growth and others are meant to be released for healing.
So how do we know which ones to forgive and which ones to forget?
Some mistakes teach us, some break us and some remind us of our humanity, but holding onto all of them can weigh us down. Forgiveness is the first step toward freedom. Forgetting, when intentional, is an act of self-love.
What would my face look like if every mistake I made was visible?
What mistake am I still carrying like a burden?
Who told me this mistake is unforgivable?
Sometimes, we replay certain moments in our minds because they hurt us deeply or challenged our values.
Remember! Not all unforgettable moments serve us.
How harmful was this mistake to my well-being or to someone else’s?
Is the pain I’m feeling still fresh or just familiar?
Am I using this memory to protect myself or to punish myself?
What am I afraid will happen if I let it go?
Mistakes can be teachers, but they can also become prisons if we never choose to move on. Letting go is not pretending something didn’t happen; it’s deciding it no longer deserves to control us.
What have I gained by holding onto this memory or mistake?
What have I lost because I haven't forgiven it (or myself)?
If I forgave this, what space would open up in my life or heart?
What would I do differently if I believed I was already forgiven?
Some mistakes carry wisdom and others carry only weight. The key is learning to tell the difference.
What did this mistake teach me that I couldn’t have learned otherwise?
What lesson I can take with me without carrying the guilt?
You are more than the lines drawn by your past.
Some lines fade…
Some stay…
But all of them belong to a person who’s still evolving.
THINK ABOUT IT…
